Collective Records is a values-driven record label committed to developing artists whose music carries meaning, integrity, and cultural impact.
Born from the award-winning work of The Jesus Collective, Collective Records exists at the intersection of faith, artistry, and excellence — producing music across genres while remaining anchored in a clear moral and spiritual foundation. We believe music shapes culture, and culture shapes lives. For us, sound is never just sound — it’s a stewarded voice.
Founded by Hilton Petersen, Collective Records grew organically from years of grassroots ministry, mentorship, and world-class gospel music outreach across South Africa and beyond. What began as community concerts and worship gatherings in towns often overlooked by the industry became a trusted platform for artists whose stories deserved to be heard — and whose gifts deserved to be developed with care.
Today, Collective Records serves as the commercial arm of The Jesus Collective, supporting both gospel and mainstream artists who share a commitment to purpose, authenticity, and excellence. Our approach is relational, intentional, and artist-first. We don’t chase trends — we cultivate legacy.
Hilton Petersen is the visionary President of
Collective Records and the founder of The
Jesus Collective, a dynamic music ministry
uniting established and emerging artists
passionate about sharing the gospel across
Africa and beyond.
Born in the small Winelands town of Ashton,
South Africa, Hilton’s journey was shaped by
resilience and faith. Raised by his mother, Sandra
—a devoted prayer warrior and sole provider—
he witnessed firsthand the power of unwavering
trust in God. Despite enduring 18 years of
poverty in a tin shack, Sandra’s faithfulness left
an indelible mark. Her attendance at “Saamtrek”
worship conferences, where burdens were lifted
through collective praise, inspired Hilton’s belief:
“Unity in worship moves God’s heart—and His
hand. That’s why The Jesus Collective exists.”
A former provincial cricketer and holder of two
PhDs, Hilton transitioned from a career in
government to entrepreneurship, driven by a
calling to make worship accessible to all.
Through The Jesus Collective, he bridges
divides—hosting events from affluent cities to
underserved towns, ensuring everyone
encounters Jesus’ love through music.
Today, Hilton resides in Johannesburg with his
family, balancing roles as a leader, husband, and
father while advancing a mission to transform
lives through worship.
